Title race heating up in Korea

Just like the weather in Korea the title race is heating up in K League 1. Ulsan remain top as they look to get their first title since 2005 but once again Jeonbuk
are right on their tails as they search for their sixth successive title.

We are just past the half way stage of an enthralling season, we would normally expect to be slowing down now due to a World Cup. However, this is of course not the case and we have lots more excitement coming up.

The midweek fixtures saw the top two collect maximum points again, meanwhile at the other end Seongnam lost 4-1 to Pohang Steelers as they remain rooted to the foot of the table.

On Wednesday evening we saw Jeonbuk match their opponents win the previous day as they defeated FC Seoul 1-0 away from home. The goal came on 54 minutes from the Brazilian forward Gustavo.

This was a hard match for the title chasers too as they struggled in the heat of over 30 degrees and both teams slipped on the wet surface as they fought to get to grips with the match. The win now means Jeonbuk are 16 games undefeated against FC Seoul.

Ulsan also showed the character of a top side as they scored late on, on Tuesday to defeat Gangwon. This was a big win too for the K League leaders as they had picked up just the one point in the previous two matches.

The game was level at 1-1 going in to the final minutes when Ulsan showed quality this was seen as Um Won-Sang received the ball from Leonardo to then score with a right-footed shot.
