Ritsu Doan has returned to Germany to join Freiburg, many refer to him as the Japanese Messi but that is maybe not the best way to explain the former PSV mans talents.

The 24-year-old is by many considered the best talent Japan currently have, while Japan's present talent pool isn't the best its been, this is still a big claim. The winger from Osaka came through at Gamba Osaka just as former Arsenal man Junichi Inamoto and many others who have gone on to play for their country.

He has since proceeded to impress many admirers and the Japanese Messi title comes as he scored a Messi type goal at the U20 World Cup in 2017 when he took on the Italian side before putting the ball in the net.

The man who was the youngest player to play in the J League has an impressive CV and his move to Freiburg is a big coup for the German side that finished last season sixth in the Bundesliga and will compete in the Europa League this season.

Although Roan has gone a little under the radar clubs have been keeping tabs on him for a while and Southampton where linked with a move in the January transfer window.
