The first weekend of May in Taiwan saw the third round of fixtures in the Premier League, we saw plenty of action too as Taiwan Steel played at home and Taipower went top with a narrow victory.
Taiwan Steel picked up a home win for the first time in 721 days. The win came in a 3-1 victory over Hang Yuan FC. The victory came thanks to Ange Samuel and Marc Fenelus two starlets of Taiwanese football.
The last time Taiwan Steel won at Tainan Municipal Football Field was on 10 May 2020. They have only played one match in the following 721 days at home due to the pandemic and stadium renovations that match coincidentally was a defeat against Hang Yuan.
The homecoming proved to be a good one too as just 15 minutes into the match that man Ange Samuel opened the scoring from inside the box. Just a minute later it was two similarly to Marc Fenelus got on the scoresheet.
Before halftime, it was three as Fenelus got on the scoresheet again with a strike from 12 yards out. The away side did get one back through from a corner kick scored by Yen-Shu Wu, but that was to be the last of the scoring in the match.
Moving on and Ming Chuan Univerity will have to wait a while longer for their first win of the season as a single goal from Chih-Hao Wen won the match for Taipower.
The match was played out in the rain and with a young squad, Ming Chuan really tested their more experienced opponents. While Taipower did have a lot more of the ball they managed just a single goal which came on 78 minutes with Chih-Hao Wen scoring.
The final match was a goal fest as Taichung Futuro defeated AC Taipei 5-1.
