The 2022 Chinese Super League season will be one that fans of Wuhan Three Towns will have never imagined the club would be involved in, having formed just six short years ago and only reached the second tier for the first time in their short history in 2021.

But fast forward a year, and the club have stunned the footballing world (in China) and have achieved successive promotions - finding themselves in the top tier alongside fellow Wuhan club Wuhan FC.

Spaniard Pedro Morilla, who guided the team to an astonishing record of 18 victories out of the 21 he oversaw last season, earning himself the manager's role on a full-time basis while also clinching a history, and wholly unexpected, league title.

Now, the focus is solely on ensuring the team's future in the newly expanded top Chinese league, with three import player signings announced all at once ahead of the new season.

27-year-old Brazilian centre back Wallace joins the club from Turkish side Yeni Malatyaspor, where he made 49 total appearances over two seasons. Wallace arrives in Wuhan with a wealth of experience in Europe, having played for the likes of AS Monaco as well as Lazio, and he will be an important player at the heart of the club's defence.

Alongside him is fellow Brazilian Davidson, who also moves to China after spending the last two seasons in Turkey, this time with Alanyaspor. The 30-year-old winger has a proven goalscoring record, with 17 in 66 games, and will be a valuable addition to the club's attacking third, with the ability to be both a provider (12 assists) as well as a threat in his own right in front of goal.

Rounding out the flurry of signings for Wuhan Three Towns is Romanian international Nicolae Stanciu, who arrives from Czech side Slavia Prague. Primarily positioned in the Number 10 slot, Stanciu will also be an important part of his new team's attacking passages, having contributed to 55 goals (25 of his own) in 111 total appearances with Slavia Prague.

The signings should impress the Wuhan Three Towns fanbase, and it is expected that they will be big-time players as the club looks to take its first step into the Chinese Super League, with plenty of experience at significant European clubs expected to help all three of the new arrivals hit the ground running in China.
