Takumi Minamino where next?

What is next for Takumi Minamino? The Liverpool man showed his quality once again for his country this week but we need to see him play regularly at club level. Rumours circulated that he may be on his way out in January but this did not materialise.

Takumi Minamino needs to play

It is clear at 27-years-old for the Takumi to continue to impress with the quality he clearly has that he must play week in week out. Jurgen Klopp committed that Liverpool would really require the midfielder in January with players away at the African Nations Cup this has since proved not to be the case.

Minamino has played a total of 46 minutes of league football in January, hardly enough football for a player who was 'desperately' needed as Klopp had commented. His future at the club was not helped when in the League Cup semi-final against Arsenal he had a dreadful late miss despite being offered with an open goal in front of the Kop. It would be his only start of the month.

Despite this Liverpool have kept hold of their frontman for now, but with Mane and Salah returning to the side and Luis Diaz coming in from FC Porto it is hard to see him having much more than a bit part to play for the remainder of the season.

As Liverpool are strongly linked with a move with the young Fabio Carvalho at Fulham it is very hard to see Minamino being at Liverpool past the summer. Where next though is the question many fans will want to know especially as they expect he could play a big part for his country at the World Cup in December.
