Slaven Bilić joins Beijing Guoan

Just the 20 days after being relieved of his duties at West Brom Slaven Bilić has found himself back in the dugout, this time with Beijing Guoan in the CSL. He will come in to replace the Frenchman Bruno Génésio as the former Lyon man left his role at the club yesterday.

A big season ahead

Slaven Bilić this week became the second Croatian to join the CSL as his fellow countryman Ivan Leko took charge of Shanghai SIPG just a week ago. He has signed on with a two-year contract and him and Ivan will be hoping they're fighting it out for the title this year.

After a third-place league finish a quarter-final defeat in the Asian Champions League last season the 52-year-old will hope to build on this and bring the club its first title since 2009. One of his first tasks in charge might be deciding the future of Kim Min-Jae with many rumours the Korean defender is heading in the opposite direction to Slaven Bilić with a move to Europe on the horizon.

This could be a great move for the Beijing club as the Croatian comes to China with a host of experience managing Lokomotiv Moscow, Besiktas, West Ham United, Al Ittihad and West Brom after a spell with the Croatian national team.

Upon signing he made it very clear he was delighted and excited about the opportunity to work in China. He did not shy away from the money as he said that was of course a factor but also the chance to take control of such a big club was the biggest influence.
