Battle for K1 and K2 title is on

At times during 2020, the Korean title race conclusion seemed a world away but we are now just two-game weeks away from the end in the K1 and three in K2. It is exciting too as we have what looks like a title decider this weekend in both leagues.

The title race

To the race for the title of champions of Korea and just as it was last season it is a two-horse race between Jeonbuk and Ulsan. Also just like it was last year Ulsan have led for much of the season but after losing to Pohang Steelers look to have to given the advantage to Jeonbuk.

As we discussed earlier in the week this is a big weekend for Ulsan as when they face Jeonbuk it looks very much like a win or bust moment for the side.

Then to the K League Two this weekend Jeju United host Suwon in a match that if they win will see them all but claim a return to the K1 after just one season away. This is great for the side that started the season with one point from their opening three matches.

The importance of these two matches is not lost on the KFA too as seen with ahead of this weekend a special media day is being arranged to promote these two matches. The event taking place today (Thursday) will see players and the managers from Ulsan, Jeonbuk, Jeju United and Suwon attend.

The media day will begin with Jeju United coach Nam Ki-Il attend and answer questions ahead of the big game along with Suwon coach, Kim Do-Kyun.

This will of course then be followed by Ulsan's head coach Kim Do-Hoon answering questions along with the Jeonbuk main man José Morais.

The idea behind this is, of course, to help raise awareness of the big matches and of course hopefully draw more eyes to the league.

I hope this works as the league is very entertaining and we all recommend trying to catch these two matches over the weekend, wherever you are in the world.
