Eran Zahavi to leave Chinese Super League side Guangzhou R&F for Turkish giants Fenerbahçe

It has been reported today in news from Israel and China that Israeli international forward Eran Zahavi is unlikely to return to China after to the international break, amidst seemingly strong interest from Fenerbahçe in signing the forward.

500k likes to get Zahavi to Istanbul

A popular Instagram account - 433 - tweeted about Zahavi signing for Fenerbache due to the ongoing rumours of him being currently in talks about signing with the Istanbul club. Zahavi replied to the account saying, if they get 500,000 likes then he will be there.

That reply from Zahavi seems to be a major indicator that the deal is on, which means that Fenerbahçe will be getting a prolific scorer from the Chinese Super League (CSL), but it will be intriguing to see if he can transfer that kind of goal scoring to the Turkish League.

In my opinion, if he gets the supply, I think the Turkish league won't be that much of a step up and he will be found performing in Turkey similar to China. While he has scored 91 goals in 106 appearances for Guangzhou R&F, it would be wildly optimistic for any fan to expect the same thing to occur once/if he moves to Istanbul.

What Fenerbahçe are getting though, is a proven goalscorer who can plonk in the goals to have them in the business of winning the league, because goals are what win matches, and Zahavi can provide goals.

The only aspect that should and probably will worry fans of Fenerbahçe is if he can still cut it in Europe. I disagree with these kinds of opinions because the best players can do the business in any league. Zahavi will score freely in Turkey, in my humblest opinion.

Zahavi released for international duty is another clue that he is departing

Zhavai was released for national team duty despite the new Fifa rules stating that players don't need to be released if they need to do quarantine when they arrive back in the country where the club they are playing for belongs. For example, Montenegro had to do without Stefan Mugosa who wasn't able to be released from Incheon United because he would have had to quarantine upon his arrival back in Korea.

And Zahavi's teammate at the club and country Dia Saba was unable to be released despite the Israeli FA attempting to call him up, for the same reasons as Montenegro with Mugosa, which prompted the Israel Football Association spokesman Shlomi Barzel to say, "The fact that he was released by his Chinese club for the national team matches, while his compatriot teammate Dia Saba was not released, despite our efforts, shows that this is the end."

All clues are pointing to Zahavi flying to Istanbul instead of Guangzhou after the current international window is done and dusted, and becoming a Fenerbahçe player.
