Fellaini and Pellè impressing with Shandong Luneng

On Tuesday Guangzhou R&F took on Shandong Luneng in the CSL and beforehand the R&F coach van Bronckhorst pinpointed the threat of Fellaini and Pellè while the later definitely proved to be worth the worry as he scored twice to help Shandong to a 5-1 victory.

Pellè on form as the mix it up

In recent weeks it has become clear that Shangdong has a strong side with Fellaini and Pellè being two of the main reasons behind this. This was seen especially when the Belgian Fellaini scored a seven-minute hattrick again Dalian in July.

It was Graziano Pellè who got to make the headlines this week though as he put in a great display and picked up two goals in his side 5-1 win. He was, in fact, one of only two foreign players to start along with Moisés as Fellaini settled for a place on the bench.

Meanwhile, Guangzhou R&F had Tošić, Dembélé, Saba and Zahavi in their starting 11. The first half saw R&F ripped apart as they went in at the end of the 45 minutes four goals down.

In China, many fans make fun of the style of football that Shangdong plays as it is not 'pretty'. This season that has not so much been the case but at the time they can still play that old school style of hit it long and put crosses into the box.

The ability to mix it up was seen too as Pellè scored one of those trademark headers of his. They where also able to break play up and on the counter they were fast and concise. Another player who was impressive playing in this style was the uncapped Chinese man Wu Xinghan who picked up an assist with a cross into the box.

It is for sure a team to look out for as they sit second in Group A level on points with Guangzhou Evergrande, maybe just maybe Li Xiaopeng side can upset the apple cart in China with their English Premier League influence.
