Ighalo and Manchester United

The Premier League in England is set to restart on 17 June with players now back in full training. As we see the clubs assess their squad there are still question marks over if Odion Ighalo will return to Manchester United for the remainder of the season.

Odion Ighalo to return to Manchester

Reports in China look to suggest that Shanghai Shenhua will allow Odion Ighalo to come back to England if at the end of his loan he signs a longer-term contract with the CSL side.

The suggestion is that all parties are looking for a solution to this issue as Ighalo is thought to be very keen to return to Manchester even if only until the end of the season.

The Nigerian came on to the club originally in January to provide cover for the now recovered Marcus Rashford although despite this being the case Ole Gunnar Solskjaer would love them both at the club.

This was seen as the boss said ‘The loan deal went until the end of May now, so obviously he’s supposed to be going back. We’re in dialogue. They’ve been great towards us, his club, and allowed him to play for his dream club. ‘It’s been a dream for him and hopefully, he can finish off what he started, hopefully with a trophy for us. At the moment, nothing has been agreed. Their league is going to get started soon so we’re just waiting to see.’

The trophies he refers to that could still be won by the club is that of the FA Cup and the Europa League although no date as yet been named for the resumption of these tournaments.

On the idea that the transfer could be made permanent at the end of the English season, the club said "We can't say that we are going to sell to Manchester United. In this way, the business can't be discussed. From a rational point of view, Ighalo is suitable for Manchester United. The club also really want him, but now there is an epidemic. Everything is variable. Operations at Manchester United must have been affected. Will they be willing to spend more money, or can their budget meet our valuation?"
