Wu Lei Espanyol collect vital point

They might still sit bottom of the league but this weekend Wu Lei and his Espanyol side took a huge lift in their relegation battle. After losing out to Wolves in the week in the Europa League the team got back to league action on Sunday and managed to pick up a 1-1 draw with Atletico Madrid.

Espanyol keep fighting

On Sunday we saw Espanyol pick up an unexpected point as they hosted the conquers of Liverpool Atletico Madrid. The result still leaves the side bottom of the league on 20 points but they are just five points off Celta Vigo in 17th place with 12 matches remaining.

It could have been even better for the side too as they took a first-half lead from a Savić own-goal. An early second-half goal from Saúl drew the away side level through a superb volley and that was to be the end of the scoring.

Kubo ends up on losing side

Elsewhere in La Liga, we saw Takefusa Kubo play the full 90 minutes as his side Real Mallorca lost at home to Getafe. The result leaves them in 18th three points below Celta Vigo as like Espanyol they continue to fight relegation.

This match was won with a Nemanja Maksimovic second-half header in an even match at Son Moix. Next up then for Mallorca, as they continue their fight to stay up is Eibar on Saturday.
