Sandberg on trial with QPR, Taiwan needs to cap him

Promising Taiwan U21 international Miguel Sandberg has gone on trial with Championship side QPR, his Swedish club announced through their social media platforms.

Sandberg is an attack-minded midfielder with an eye for goal. He has a tenacious playing style and is a holder of dual Swedish and Taiwanese nationality, which means if QPR wants to sign him, they will have no visa issues as they would with players from Taiwan with only Taiwanese nationalism.

Taiwan should consider bringing him into the full senior side and giving him a cap as soon as possible because as he has only featured for Taiwan's youth sides, this means he will still have a crack at representing Sweden.

If Sweden does come sniffing for the lad, then there is no doubt he would end up playing for them instead of Taiwan, which would be a travesty because it looks like he is going to be brilliant.

It is vital for Taiwan to tie down as many players who have a chance of playing professional football as possible to raise the standard of the national team in the short term while striving to make the domestic scene better in the long term.

Sandberg, Donkin, and Estevez could provide a very exciting attacking lineup for Taiwan for the considerable future if Taiwan manages to get them all tied to the national side.
