Football in China to return by May

Reports in China emerged on Monday that the league could return to action by the middle of April or at least by May. Conflicting statements began yesterday as Wild East Football suggested sources mention the league could start-up by the 18th April while Sina Sports proposed early May for the return of football.

Back by May

After the league 2019 season ended at the beginning of December there has been no competitive football in China. The coronavirus derailed the start to the new season and that has continued ever since.

Things are looking up though in China as cases drop daily of the virus and this has prompted people to feel that things could return to normal soon.

The one normality that am sure many of you are excited for is the return of football as there seems to be growing optimism that the Chinese Super League could return by May. It is a date that some think is maybe still too soon but it is a timeframe that the CSL is working with we understand.

The hope will be that if the league can begin by the middle of May a full season will be able to be played in 2020. The worry is if the league is put back much further than this suggested date there will be many issues with finishing the season.
