K League suspended

It was announced on Monday that the start of the K League would be delayed due to further outbreaks of the coronavirus virus. The K League broke the news on Monday as they said the league would be suspended indefinitely.

The news came on February 24 after the KFA had an emergency meeting in Seoul with the result being the delay to the beginning of both the K League 1 and 2. As the story broke the KFA as yet have not given a new date for the start of the 2020 season.

The decision comes after the country raised its coronavirus alert to the "highest level" as confirmed case numbers keep rising. In total, they have seen a reported six people die from the virus while there have been more than 600 cases of people being infected.

This has prompted the KFA president to say "The board has to make this move after seriously considering the impact of new pneumonia Measures, we will wait until the epidemic ceases, then announce a new match schedule."
