Takumi Minamino made his Liverpool debut as his new side took on city rivals Everton in the FA Cup third round. His current side was not at full strength as many youngsters got a run-out but after a shaky first half, a much-changed Liverpool side won 1-0.

Played his part with the youngsters

A lot of the talk of the Liverpool game over the weekend concentrated on the youngsters on display and the wonder goal from Curtis Jones. Although the new signing from Japan also made his debut and put in a display that showed Jürgen Klopp may have a bargain on his hands.

The winger looked to settle right into Liverpool's fast-paced passing style of football as despite making his debut for 70 minutes before being substituted for Oxlade-Chamberlain.

After the match, the players mentioned on his display;
I'm happy that now I'm a part of this team. It was probably one of the most intense matches I've played, but I knew the Premier League would be like that so I wasn't surprised. The way we press aggressively, the way we press back, the way we use the space between lines is similar to Salzburg.
His first game for his new club game in a side with an average age of just 24-year-old with one player in the form of Harvey Elliot just 16-years-old. Many of these players were playing one of their first senior appearances for the club so this was a unique time for Minamino to make his debut.

Despite playing his part in the shuffled line-up he fitted right into the side and did not look out of place. There will, of course, be bigger challenges ahead for the Japan international as he looks to hold down a place in one of Europes best sides.

Am sure the winger will have to be patient as his side next travel to London to play Tottenham Hotspur followed by a North-West derby at home with Manchester United. If he shows the quality we know he has am sure it will not be long though until the player is starting these big matches.
