Ulsan Hyundai went into the last game of the season against Pohang Steelers needing only a draw to win the league. Seemingly a straightforward task considering it was a home match.

Ulsan bottle it

Ulsan had one job today, and that was to not lose against Pohang at home. Unfortunately for them, and every football fan in Korea other than Jeonbuk's crew of merry followers, Ulsan proceeded to let everyone down.

With the match tied at 1-1 at half time, all seemed to be going well for the side in blue. That changed in the second half when Pohang's Stanislav Iljutcenko put the Steelers 2-1 up. With Ulsan now chasing the game they really had to go for it.

The keeper Kim Seung-gyu raced to take his sides throw in late on, as they were desperate to get another goal that would ensure they'd win the league.

What happened next was pure comedy gold, as Kim Seung-gyu seemingly lost his brain cells, he decided to throw the ball as far as he could, over his teammates head into the path of attacking Pohang player Heo Yong-joon who raced through towards an open net, and rolled it in, to make the game 3-1 and put any doubt of where the title would end up, firmly to bed.

A penalty by Aleksandar Paločević in the 97th minute rubbed salt into the wounds, as Pohang Steelers won 4-1, handing the title to Jeonbuk and making Ulsan look like mugs in their own back yard with South Korea's number one keeper looking a bit like Coco the Clown thrown in for good measure.
