Taiwan set off for their Middle East doubleheader, against Jordan then Kuwait, on the evening of 11th November.

Taiwan go in search of first World Cup points

Taiwan head out to the Middle East in search of their first-ever World Cup qualifying group stage points. The only wins Taiwan have to their name in qualifying have come in the first round. Taiwan already played their home tie against Jordan, losing 2-1.

Two trips to the Middle East aren't the ideal fixtures for going in search of your first-ever World Cup points, however when Nepal came to Taipei and won it was a shock. Why could Taiwan not go to the Middle East and come back with a win or a point?

Jordan seemingly looks the better of the two sides, but they played out a 0-0 draw against each other, and Kuwait tore apart Nepal when they hammered them 7-0. For Taiwan to get anything though, they will need to put a performance like they did against Australia, and not how they did against Nepal.

If Taiwan somehow manages to come back from the games away to Jordan and Kuwait with any kind of points then it will be a magnificent achievement. Taiwan will need their big game ballers to perform. One could say that the pressure may now be off Taiwan, as they had so much hope going into the first two matches with Jordan and Nepal.

Maybe some of the guys couldn't handle the occasion as well as the friendlies had indicated, whatever the reason, the weight of that pressure is now gone. No one expects Taiwan to come back from Jordan or Kuwait with any kind of points. Most people will likely expect Taiwan to get hammered. This is when teams can cause an upset; when no one is expecting anything from them, and the other team underestimates them. That is when a big scalp can be taken, why not Taiwan!

Go and send the players off

The CTFA posted that if fans want to go and give the team a send off, they are more than welcome to do so. The team will be at the airport for 8pm on Monday night (11th November). If you're a big fan, and can get to Taoyuan airport, and do decide to go, give them an almighty roar!

Taiwan play Jordan at midnight on the evening of 14th - morning of the 15th (Taiwan time). It is the first time that Taiwan have ever had suits made for the team, so they will be looking like the mutts nuts (the dogs bollocks) too.

The previous World Cup qualifiers involving  Middle Eastern nations were all shown on Alkas website (in Arabic) but just look for the drop down menu that has a little TV box on it. Then the menu should drop down with a list of channels. Click through them until you find Taiwan's game.
