South Korea are ready for Lebanon

South Korea have a World Cup qualifier with Lebanon on Thursday in Beirut before they travel to Abu Dhabi to face Brazil in a glamour friendly a week on Tuesday.

Lebanon first up

The Brazil match is, of course, a glamour match against some top players but the important business is on Thursday when they face Lebanon away from home. This could prove a tough match in a hostile environment.

Things have not gone all South Korea's way so far as they currently sit top of Group H just on goal difference ahead of North Korea.

The Koreans will be confident going into this match though as they have a good record with Lebanon, this is seen as they have nine wins, two draws and the single loss against the Lebanese.

That single defeat did come in Beirut however when the sides faced each other in qualification for the 2012 World Cup. This game ended 2-1 after the Koreans had previously won 6-0 at home against their opponents in the Group.

Back to 2019

Looking forward to the two matches this is what Paulo Bento had to say;
It's important to be prepared in our style. We're gathering as much information as possible about Abu Dhabi (Brazil match). We're going to have the best tactics against Lebanon.
(Asked if Lebanon were the second-best in the Group) I have prepared for the best possible results. It is important to prepare according to our style. It is an away game against difficult opponents, but I will prepare for a good game.
We are preparing for the match against Lebanon as we always prepare. We have also gathered information about Brazil.
(on Son) We will be ready for Lebanon as a team with him in the side. Son Heung-min also scored a goal in the week and I will prepare for him to be with the team.
