The AFC-U16 Women's Cup has been taking place in Thailand. The tournament was competed by 8 teams - North Korea (defending champions) Australia, Japan, South Korea, China, Bangladesh, Vietnam, and Thailand.

Japan's young women win the tournament

Japan's young women have defeated reigning champions North Korea 2-1 in the final of the AFC U-16 Women's cup. These competitions are basically development tournaments really, with the key aim being player development and opportunites for competitive matches in a tournament environment.

That being said, there still needs to be a winner. This time round Japan managed to be the winner. Japan are doing very well in the development of women's football. The Nakedisho league is doing well, and it has shown with their national teams winning a lot or doing well in tournaments.

No doubt that women's football in Japan will continue to grow.
