Yoshida to donate 1% of his salary

The veteran Japan defender Maya Yoshida has been with Southampton for seven years now and wants to give something back. He is doing just that too by this season donating 1% of his salary to the Saints Foundation this year. 

A lovely gesture 

Yoshida announced on twitter his reason for doing this is because of the city of Southampton giving him so much. Saints Foundation, the official charity of Southampton, helping to fulfil the potential and change the lives of people of all ages across Southampton and surrounding areas.

As money is earned at the top level of football increases, we are starting to see more and more players giving back. Although even if this is a small token, it is a lovely touch from the defender and shows what a great character he is.
