Ulsan stay top

Ulsan now sits clear at the top of the K League 1 with all sides having played 23 matches. It proved to be a successful week for the side leading as they beat FC Seoul 3-1 while Jeonbuk Motors drew 2-2 with relegation-threatened Jeju United.

Ulsan on top

The current leaders Ulsan are looking for their first K League title since 2005 and were in impressive form as they all but ended FC Seoul title challenge with victory in the week. The downside to this win was Mix Diskerud limping off injured as the American as had a great season.

An injury worry should not dent the title push though as the side is very well organised and looks to adapt when needed. The direction in which they pass the ball and move is examples of how confident this club look right now.

Meanwhile, the opposite looks to be the case with current champions Jeonbuk Motors, the side who currently sit second three points of the top spot. As in their 2-2 draw with Jeju United they looked to not have the confidence to see the game out having led twice.

They still seem a good side and are very much in this title race but the way they passed the ball in the week and their inability to break on their opponents are worrying signs. Under the new boss this season in José Morais they don't quite look the same as the side that won the league by such a margin last season.

It should be interesting to see what happens over the weekend as Ulsan travel to face Jeju United while Jeounbuk plays a Gangwon a side sitting in fourth place.
