Dates for new Hong Kong season announced

There's been much turmoil in Hong Kong in recent months, so the news of the Premier League season starting back again is a nice distraction. As last week the fixtures were finally announced with the league campaign kicking off on the 30th August.

Kitchee kicking off the new season

The season will kick off with one of the leagues favourites Kitchee taking on a familiar side making a return to the league in Happy Valley. It will take place at the Mong Kok Stadium on a Friday evening at 9pm local time.

There is an in-depth look at the league on the Hong Kong Football podcast with James Legg and Tobias Zuser. In short, though it looks like it could be an exhilarating season ahead with three teams fighting it out for the top spot.

Unfortunately the current champions Tai Po do not look like they will mount a title challenge as they've lost most of their and manager to Eastern. This time out then Kin Lee Chi will look to lead a new side to a title in Eastern.

The other two sides who are then expected to mount a title challenge are the much improved Kitchee and R&F who have recruited very well.
