Sterling and Guardiola impressed with Yokohama's style

Manchester City concluded their tour of Asia yesterday with a friendly match in Japan against Yokohama F.Marinos. Man City won the game 3-1, and this time the match went off without any kind of incident or negative news coming out about them, in fact, Man City seemed to have a very positive view of Yokohama.

The best we've seen play out from the back

As both Raheem Sterling and Pep Guardiola declared after their friendly against Yokohama F.Marinos that the Japanese side is one of the best they've seen at playing football from the back.

Raheem Sterling was quoted as saying, "It was really humid and they played some really good football," Raheem added. "They’re probably one of the best teams I’ve seen play out from the back and they played some great football so it was a great test for us."

While Guardiola himself stated, "Yokohama played some incredible football and they were an incredible test for us. I knew how good they were and it was tough for us."

It hardly comes as a surprise to us that a Japanese side would give Manchester City a very good test. Yokohama F.Marinos are currently 2nd in the J.League and Japanese football is technically one of the best in Asia.

A lot of Japanese players are being bought by European clubs, because they are technically very good, and the initial outlay in signing them is lower than it would be for say, signing someone from England, Spain or Germany, therefore, these players right now represent great value to teams looking for a new signing, while still wanting the technical ability of the team to remain high.

I doubt Guardiola was shocked by the ability of players and teams in Japan because you don't win as many trophies as he has without doing any homework.
