Gary White leaves Tokyo Verdy

The news that was expected came on Wednesday as Gary White the Englishman left J League 2 side Tokyo Verdy. The team currently sit 13th in the very competitive league but with the side closer to relegation than promotion it was felt the time was right.

Wrong style by White

Gary White after impressing with the Taiwan national side landed a job with Hong Kong. This lasted only a few months as after a short successful time with the country he headed to Japan to take charge of Tokyo Verdy in the J League 2.

White is a manager with is own ideas and his way of playing football which as clearly worked in the past. His football philosophies might not always go down well though and unfortunately, this was the case in Japan.

Reports in the country suggest that some did not like his training methods from the start which is never a great start.

Experienced Youth Team coach steps in

The man from England will now be replaced by the youth team coach at the club Hideki Nagai. The new man in charge is well known having been with the club since 1992. He knows the club very well then and if he starts strong will have fans onside quickly.
