Taiwan's U20 Futsal tournament starts tonight against Iraq

Taiwan qualified for the U20 Futsal championship finals in amazing fashion by coming from behind to defeat and knock out China in Mongolia. Their reward was qualifying for the finals in Iran for the first time in their history, and tonight is their opening match of the tournament.

Taiwan face Iraq tonight in the Asian U20 Futsal Championships, and the match can be seen live here. Kick off will be at 8:00 p.m Taiwan time, tt will be a tough task for Taiwan to defeat Iraq, but if you get the chance to watch it live you should, the Futsal is great fun to watch, and Taiwan deserve the support because of the progression that is being made. Iraq will be a very tough team to beat however, as they have been performing well in Futsal for a considerable time.

Taiwan are in a group of 3 teams with Indonesia, and Iraq completing the group. The games are played in a round robin format, with each team playing each other once. The top two teams in the group will make it through to the knockout stage, meaning that one win could be enough to get to the next round, depending on the other scores in the group.

Signs that football in Taiwan is progressing

Football in Taiwan is on the rise, it will take time while people have to be realistic and patient in regards to how quickly the progress is happening, there are signs that progress is there. The U20 Futsal side qualifying for the AFC Futsal Championship in Iran is another clear sign of this.

Participating in the Asian Games, qualifying for the AFC U19 championship, the Women's team getting to the semi finals of the Asian games, and qualifying for the last round of Olympic qualifiers, the senior side being plonked into pot 3 for the up-and-coming World Cup Draw. These are all signs that football is progressing, and the work being put in behind the scenes is bearing fruit.
