Wu Lei has shoulder surgery

This week photos of Wu Lei surfaced on social media of the Chinese attacker in a hospital bed. This was due to the player having surgery on a shoulder injury that occurred during the Asian Cup in January.

A successful op

It was reported that all went to plan with the operation too and the player should be back playing in six to eight weeks.

The injury suffered during the Asian Cup earlier this year, but he kept playing for the remainder of the season with Espanyol.

This then led to the 27-year-old to score some vital goals for his club as they secured a place in next seasons Europa League.

Wu Lei could be a big success next season

The attacker will now look to gain full fitness and show his club what he can do once back. Meanwhile, China fans might be hoping they will see him play a big role in their World Cup qualifying campaign.

The success of the player who did so well in the Chinese Super League with Shanghai SIPG for so many years as shown that players from China can come over to Europe and do well. This could then open the door for more players to come over and in doing so help improve the talent in China.

The arrival of a player from a country like China is big on and off the pitch for a club in Europe. As an example it was reported 40 million people in China watched Wu Lei debut in China. So to sign a player that will improve your side and attract another 40 million fans is of course huge.

Any smart club in Europe then am sure will be keeping an eye on the CSL to see what other talent is out there.
