Japan prepare for South American Friendlies

It is international duty once again for Hajime Moriyasu and his Japan side, as they meet up for the first time since losing to Qatar in the Asian Cup final. This is a different side to the one that left the UAE disappointed.

Changes galore

Despite an Asian Cup final appearance, Moriyasu as runs the changes with this Japan squad. In total there are 13 players called up for the two friendlies who did not travel to the UAE at the start of the year. This isn't necessarily a case of the coach being unhappy but more a chance for other players to show what they can do.

Then with the matches with Colombia on Friday and then Bolivia on Tuesday we will see a different national side to the one that lost to Qatar. The team appear to be in good spirits too as this week they arrived in Yokohama as they start their training camp.

There was 17 of the 23 man squad involved in this training session and this included the return of Shinji Kagawa and Gen Shoji the pair are returning to Japan set for the first time since the World Cup. Meanwhile,  Hidemasa Morita had a slight injury and missed training but should be back before Friday's match.

It is understood the remaining players will be with the squad on Tuesday. This will include Takumi Minamino and Daichi Kamada who is in his first Japan senior squad.
