AFC President congratulations Japanese football on visit to Tokyo

AFC (Asian Football Confederation) president Shaikh Salman bin Ebrahim Al Khalifa recently visited the JFA (Japanese Football Association) and congratulated them on being on the most successful and best run football associations throughout the region.

JFA Congratulated

The JFA received a resounding endorsement for the success of Japanese football over recent years, with the AFC President indicating how well Japanese national sides have been at all levels. Both the men's and the women's senior teams have been successful. The success doesn't stop their though, with their youth teams also doing well in every competition they've entered.

AFC President Shaikh Salman bin Ebrahim Al Khalifa said that, "Japan is one of the leading football nations in Asia". Japan's progress shows no signs of slowing down, as their new crop of players coming through to replace the likes of Kagawa, and Honda look superb. The players i'm particularly thinking about are Takumi Minamino, Ritsu Doan, and Shoya Nakajima.

This exciting trio of attacking talent is more than capable of replacing the famous older players who decided to call time on their international careers after the World Cup.  Barring any excruciating circumstances the three of them should feature in the 2022 World Cup for Qatar and could fire the Japanese further than they've ever been previously.

Japan's recent success

Japan, as pointed out by the AFC president, have been one of the most successful Asian sides over recent years. He wasn't just focusing on the men's senior team either and he went on to point out all the different competitions Japan have performed excellently in over the past few years.

He went on to list their successes and he mentioned the following competitions:

AFC Women's Asian Cup 2018 winners
Asian Cup runners up
Only Asian side to get to the second round of 2018 World Cup
AFC U16 Champions
Women's U20 World Cup winners
AFC Women's Futsal Championship silver medal
Youth Olympic Games silver medal
2017 Asian Champions League Winners (Urawa Red Diamonds)
2018 Asian Champions League Winners (Kashima Antlers)

The AFC president concluded his brief statement by saying, all the JFA's success is down to the hard work and great organisation of Japan's football association.
