Wu Lei is an injury doubt

China starman's Wu Lei is an injury doubt for his country ahead of their clash with South Korea. It is understood that the attacker picked up a shoulder injury and received painkillers to play against the Philippines it is now unclear if he will be able to continue for the rest of the tournament.

Wu Lei a doubt

China has a big match with their East Asian rivals South Korea on Wednesday and could do with all their players available. It is unclear however if Wu Lei will be available for this match or the rest of the competition after suffering a shoulder injury in China's first match with Kyrgyzstan.

Against the Philippines, the player played through the pain but according to Titan Sports, his club Shanghai SIPG would like him to return to China. He did, however, train yesterday along with all 22 of his teammates. Despite the injury worries, this was, in fact, the first time all 23 of the China squad trained since the start of the Asian Cup.

It is a waiting game to see if Wu Lei is to remain fit and stay at the Asian Cup but I would not be surprised at all if he at least misses his sides match with South Korea. This is due to the fact Lippi will already know he's got a last 16 match to prepare for and to beat a strong South Korea side is a tough ask with or without Wu Lei.

Meanwhile, the Beijing Guoan defender Yu Yang sat out part of the training session. This is seen very much as a precaution however and the player is expected to play against South Korea.
