The Anthony Modeste dilema

Tianjin Quanjian must be regretting the moment they ever set eyes on Anthony Modeste as the Frenchman hit the headlines again this week. It was seen as the attacker searches for the right to play football again this time with Koln in Germany. The opportunity for the player to play again then hit new levels of craziness with the Chinses club owner getting arrested.

What will happen with Anthony Modeste and Tianjin Quanjian

The future of the CSL side Tianjin Quanjian looks bleak currently as their owner Shu Yuhui was arrested this week. The arrest was on suspicion of running a false marketing campaign and pyramid sales scams. With the case related to the Chinese club, Tianjin sponsors Quanjian Group.

Shu Yuhui is the owner of the Quanjian Group a herbal medicine company based in the city of Tianjin. Due to the link with the club and the Quanjian Group, all finances from the company will now be blocked. The football club based in Tianjin will still continue but under new ownership and name.

It was reported on social media this week that the club would not be dissolved as many thought it would, instead they will have their ownership taken up by the local football association. The future of the club seems a little clearer but what will happen with players and their contracts is a little less clear.

This is when the issue with Anthony Modeste comes in, this is due to the fact that in December FIFA ruled that the Frenchman had no reason to cancel his contract with the Chinese club. Although they also ruled Tianjin had to pay Modeste's remaining wages till 2020 in a bizarre ruling.

The player since his termination of the contract in China signed for German Second Division side Koln. He as, however, been unable to play for his new club with the ruling also stating he can not play again till the case is complete. The scandal than with the Quanjian Group might mean this case is put to bed and the player will be able to play again soon.

Pato might be on his way too

This business will also affect the Brazilian striker Alexandre Pato who is with the club also. With the future of all players unclear, you can imagine he will be keen to get out now too. The player then who did have a year left on his contract could be on his way to AC Milan it would seem according to reports.
