This week the KFA announced that South Korea will play friendlies later this year against Uruguay, Panama and Uzbekistan. These games will take place in October and November 2018.
We will get a chance to see Paulo Bento's new South Korea side this week also before these games. As the Koreans take on Costa Rica on Sunday followed by a match with Chile next Tuesday. The two games are home matches taking place at the Goyang Stadium and Suwon World Cup Stadium respectively.
The matches after this round of fixtures will start with Uruguay on 12th October this will be followed by a match with Panama three days later. Both fixtures are to take place in South Korea but the stadiums have yet to be announced.
This final of these three friendlies will be with Uzbekistan in Brisbane, Australia, on the 20th November. This game takes place three days after South Korea play against Australia at the same venue.
This will then lead South Korea up to the 2019 Cup in the United Arab Emirates. It will be hoped then by the time the match with Australia comes around Bento will know his team for the Asian Cup.
Now with South Korea, currently ranked 57 in the world the Korean side will wish to get some wins on the board an climb up the FIFA rankings ahead of the Asian Cup that kicks off in January.
