Away from the exciting title challenge in Japan or the runaway leaders in the K League 1, we have the Under-16 Asian Cup taking place in Malaysia. This tournament happens every two years with 16 countries across Asia taking part.
There are currently three East Asian sides competing with Japan, South Korea and North Korea all having qualified. The three have furthermore reached the quarter-final stage. Now with Group A to C finished we know that Japan and North Korea have won their groups.
Then in Group D South Korea have their final game on Friday against Iraq but as the side are already top with two wins from two they look certain to top their group too. The impressive performances from the East Asian sides is, of course, good for the future but also in the shorter term its exciting as the top three sides at the Under-16 Asian Cup qualify for the Under-17 World Cup.
I will then leave you with the highlight from the East Asian sides recent games, take a look out especially for a big miss in the North Korea match.
