After a summer of uncertainty for Shinji Kagawa, the midfielder seems to be firmly back. As the 29-year-old picked up his first 90 minutes of the season against Hoffenheim on the 22nd September this was then followed with an appearance from the bench as his team beat Nürnberg 7-0.
Now with Borussia Dortmund away to Bayer Leverkusen this evening the Japanese midfielder will be keen to make an impact. A win in this match could put them top of the Bundesliga after six games with a title challenge being mounted against the German greats Bayern München.
There is fierce competition for places with the Dortmund side so Kagawa will need to be on top of his game to keep his place in the side. With both Dahoud and Wolf looking for starting places after short spells out.
Now with Kagawa having picked up game time in three games in a row, he is looking to go on from here as he said: "With playing three games in a row I hope I have caught the attention and can keep my form going."
It looks now like the player's patience in waiting to get back in the team might have paid off and with his side competing for the title in Germany and also looking strong in the Champions League it could be a season to remember.
