This week it was reported that Shakhtar Donetsk of Ukraine is interested in the Japanese attacker Shoya Nakajima. The forward is currently doing well with Portuguese side Portimonense where he has scored twice already this season. The price tag being reported is that of 5.3 billion yen (£36 million) this is also the player's release clause. A huge transfer sum for a player who as yet not played a competitive game for his country.
Nakajima did, however, have a good season last year where he picked up 10 goals and 12 assists after his move from FC Tokyo. Despite this, he did miss out on travelling to Russia as part of the Japan squad.
He is a key player for his club though and was giving the number 10 shirt this season to show just that. On Sunday he impressed as he helped his side pick up their first win of the season at home to Vitória Guimarães.
In this game, he picked up two goals for himself as well as an assist in a 3-2 win. His second in this game and his sides third was a thing of beauty as he chipped the keeper after reading a poor defensive header from the opposition.
Then after these impressive displays, it looks like Shakhtar have upped their interest in the 24-year-old. As it was reported the club sent scouts to the Portimonense v Guimarães match.
It looks like if the club gets an offer in the region of the sums being reported it is likely they will accept. Although the Ukrainian side is not the only ones keeping a close eye on the player with it being reported Frankfurt, Sevilla and Mallorca may also be lining up a bid.
