From what we can gather, all of Taiwan’s Asian Games matches taking place in Indonesia will be shown live on Taiwanese TV. We didn’t expect that this would happen and have been looking out for this news for a while now, but thankfully someone has decided to show it.
That means Taiwanese football fans will get the chance to watch the national team play live in an intercontinental tournament which hasn’t always been the case, and there isn’t much interest from illegal stream providers to show Taiwan matches.
Which channel will the games be on?
The games will be shown live on ELTA 3 which is a sports channel on MOD. The channel number is 202, you will need a MOD subscription to access this channel though.
MOD is the Taiwanese equivalent to SKY in the UK and to get MOD you also need to have high-speed internet as MOD connects through your internet connection. If you want to sign up for MOD you will need to do that through Chungwa which is the biggest telecommunications company in Taiwan.
When is the first game and against who?
Taiwan will play their first match on the opening day of the competition (08/10) against Palestine, and kick off is 8pm (Taiwan time).
All Taiwan matches to be played at the Asian Games will be shown on ELTA 3, the fixtures are as follows:
8/10 Taiwan vs Palestine (kick-off – 20:00) All times are Taiwan time
8/12 Taiwan vs Indonesia (kick-off – 20:00)
8/15 Taiwan vs Hong Kong (kick-off – 17:00)
8/20 Taiwan vs Laos (kick-off – 20:00)
The top two teams of each group will qualify for the next round of the competition as well as four best ranked 3rd place finishers. The tournament is taking place in Jakarta, Indonesia who are hosting the 2018 Asian Games.
