His World Cup ended yesterday as his country crashed out to Belgium but already news is breaking Paulinho is on his way back to China.
Paulinho signed with Barcelona last summer from Guangzhou Evergrande for a fee thought to be around the €40 million mark. It is now thought however that the Brazilian could be on his way back to China.
How did this happen
At the end of the week, Barcelona announced on social media that they'd reached an agreement to sell Paulinho back to Guangzhou Evergrande. Although this tweet was promptly deleted.
If this rumoured deal is to go through it is thought that it would be an initial loan with Guangzhou purchasing Paulinho for a fee of €50 million with the Catalonian club making a profit on the deal.
The rumours are that this deal is in advanced stages and the Chinese club will be eager to get this over the line as soon as possible at their transfer window closes on the 11th July.
Paulinho was very successful in his first spell in China and he was quickly idolised by fans. His spell with Barcelona as not been dreadful also but it's been hard for him to hold down a starting place with his countryman Coutinho ahead of him. As this move will then see Paulinho get a large pay rise and regular football it could be the right move for everyone involved.
