Eder heads to China from Italy

Éder Citadin Martins known as just Éder headed to China this week as he signed with Jiangsu Suning in the CSL. With the Chinese transfer window now closed, he joins his teammates and will look to play a role in Jiangsu Suning push for the title.

Currently, the Italian joins the club sitting fourth in the CSL but are only four points of Shanghai SIPG in the top spot. Then with only 11 games played so far, it is all to play for with the team returning to league action after the break for the World Cup.

Then will he be able to help his side challenge at the top of the table? His new boss Cosmin Olăroiu clearly thinks he can and as reportedly paid in the region of €6 million for his services. While reports estimate the attacker will earn €27 million over two years in China.

For that kind of sum of money, you would fully expect Éder to team up well with Alex Teixeira his new striker partner and chip in with a few goals of his own.

Meanwhile, fans of the CSL are less confident of his ability and feel the money could have been spent elsewhere as the Italian only managed three goals in 29 appearances for Inter Milan last season.

There is of course more to this move than just the player as is often the case in Chinese business. This is down to the fact over 65% of Inter Milan is owned by Suning Holdings Group the company that also runs Jiangsu Suning.
