Seedlings announced draw 4th May

The draw for the Asian Cup will take place on Friday as we look to discover the faith of the East Asian sides. China, Japan, South Korea and North Korea will be representing the region in the UAE in early 2019.

As seen in the picture above the sides have been separated into four pots. Japan and South Korea sit in pot one with the current champions Australia as both countries will be expecting to have a successful tournament.

Meanwhile, China sits in pot two and after some very disappointing results will be hoping to put in some respectable performance at the Asian Cup.

While North Korea sit in pot four and are the only East Asian side to qualify through the qualification process. As the other three sides qualified automatically for the Asian Cup.

The North Koreans are a hard team to call as it is very difficult to watch any of their home games but in matches that we have been able to see they have looked a solid side and could be an outside bet to qualify out of their group.

So how the draw works are that 24 teams have been placed into four pots based on the latest FIFA world rankings. so than six groups of four will be drawn, with a team from each pot.

As with the expansion to 24 nations three countries will make their debut in UAE - the Philippines, Yemen and Kyrgyzstan.

The Asian Cup kicks off in the UAE on the 5th January 2019, with the final taking place in Abu Dhabi on the 1st February 2019.
