Elite referee to head to China

It was reported this week that Cüneyt Çakıra a top level Turkish referee could be on his way to officiate in the Chinese Super League (CSL) from early 2019. Çakıra a top-level referee has refereed in the Super League in his home country as well as in European competition.

Along with this, Çakıra has been listed as one of the referees for the Russia 2018 World Cup.

So with the standard in China improving every season, they are looking for the best officials to make the game better. As we have seen some interesting decisions in the CSL this year it is obvious the level of refereeing needs to improve.

The idea of leagues looking to improve by bringing in foreign imports with officials is still fairly new. However, Mark Clattenburg of England is Head of Refereeing for the Saudi Arabian Football Federation.

The details of the move for Cüneyt Çakıra are still to be finalised, however, it would appear that this is something that could very match be on the cards for the start of the 2019 season in China.
