Confirmed - Andres Iniesta to China

Today it looks like confirmation is finally here that Andres Iniesta has agreed on a deal to move to Chinese club Tianjin Quanjian. As Sky Sports reported this has been confirmed in a report from Catalunya Radio (Catalonia number 1 radio station).

Iniesta has been at Barcelona since 2002, as he's clocked up 665 games while scoring 56 goals in all competitions.

Before signing on for the first team, Iniesta played three years for their “B” outfit so all he's ever known in football is Barcelona. The midfielders as had a great time while at the Catalonia club also as he has won four Champions League medals and to top this off nicely he added two European Championships and a World Cup with Spain to that list.

However, with Iniesta turning 34 in May this year it looks like Barcelona have started preparing for life without him by signing Philippe Coutinho from Liverpool in January for a fee thought to be around €160 million. Coutinho is an excellent player and will fit their style well, but he has yet to hit top gear at Camp Nou. Also, the Brazilian was ineligible to play in the Champions League due to playing for Liverpool in the competition in the group stages, so Iniesta has still been crucial for the side this campaign.

Despite this Iniesta hinted after his side defeat to Roma this week that there was a possibility that it was his last game in Europeans Elite competition. It would now seem this is correct as when his contract expires in May Iniesta will be heading to China to join Paulo Sousa's side Tianjin Quanjian.
