Round 1 of the CSL

The Chinese Super League kicked off once again this weekend and it was a bit of a cracker with 33 goals being scored over the eight games. The best value for money game by far was between Guangzhou Evergrande and Guangzhou R&F as the away side run out 5-4 winners in Guangzhou. Elsewhere Shanghai SIPG run out 8-0 winners against Dalian Yifang.

There were some standout performances this weekend but a special mention should be made to Wu Lei as the Chinese midfielder scored a hat-trick for his club Shanghai SIPG. This is good news for fans of China as it shows it's not just the imports making a big impact in the league.

While the 5-4 cracker in Guangzhou did see another two hat-tricks just to keep us all on our toes. First off Alan Carvalho picked up a first-half hat-trick for his side Guangzhou Evergrande but despite all this hard work, he was still on the losing side. While the Israeli Eran Zahavi also picked up a hat trick for Guangzhou R&F and lucky for him he was on the winning side.

The CSL season did get off to a great start and looks like a very entertaining league to look out for. Readers in the UK can also pick up live games in English as Sky Sports have the right to show live games of the CSL.
