North Korea vs Hong Kong

The final round of Asian Cup Qualifying will take place later this month. With the most important tie of the round involving East Asian sides taking place in Pyongyang, North Korea as the North Koreans face Hong Kong. The match will kick off at 16:00 Hong Kong time and as it’s in North Korea there will be no media coverage of the game.  Unfortunately as with most games that take place in North Korea you generally just have to follow the live score online.

North Korea currently hold a qualifying spot in the group in second place behind group leaders Lebanon on eight points. Hong Kong sits three points behind North Korea on five points, and that means Hong Kong need to travel to Pyongyang in search of victory because nothing else will be good enough to help them qualify for the finals in the UAE.

The previous game between the two nations was a 1-1 draw in Hong Kong, which means if Hong Kong were to qualify they have no choice but to go for a win on the 27th March. North Korea on the other hand only needs to draw or better to qualify. As if the game ends in a draw, using the head to head rule will not work so goal difference will come in to play. So in the event of a draw, North Korea with the better goal difference than Hong Kong would be the team heading to the UAE.
