Chinese club Tianjin threatens legal action over Iniesta speculation

Tianjin Quanjian the side from the Chinese Super League has threatened legal action in a bid to stop speculation around Andres Iniesta of Barcelona joining their club. The 33-year-old Spanish midfielder has been linked as yet another big-name foreign player to join the league. The rumour is that Iniesta is on his way to China this summer when his current contract with Barcelona expires.

His former teammate Javier Mascherano already joined the league in January joining Hebei China Fortune. However, Iniesta moving to China seems to all be media hype as the Chinese club Tianjin Quanjian issued a statement saying, "Our club solemnly state that such news reports are false. For all false reports about our club, we reserve the right to solve it through legal means,".

Despite this statement, Barcelona Daily Sport said last month that Iniesta had been offered around £30 million a season to move to Tianjin. If the player is to leave for China we shall see but it would look like with the January signing of Philippe Coutinho from Liverpool in a £140 million deal they are planning for a future without the World Cup winner. If he was to head to Tianjin Iniesta would have fellow Brazilian forward Pato and Belgian international midfielder Axel Witsel as teammates.
