This week history was made in the Asian Champions League, as Kitchee of Hong Kong beat ten-man Kashiwa Reysol of Japan. It came in dramatic fashion also with a great goal from Cheng Chin-Lung in the 92nd minute.
A crowd of over 7,000 were in the Hong Kong stadium to witness history being made. Not many you can imagine came with huge hope after Kitchee had lost three games in a row in the Champions League conceding ten goals.
The man from Hong Kong Cheng Chin-Lung said after the match “I’m excited and happy for two reasons. One: a very valuable three points, and the other a first-ever goal in the AFC Champions League. It will bring me more confidence.”
If Kitchee where to get a win in the Champions League this is where it is thought it would be although it would still have been seen as a huge shock. Excitement grew for the home side also when Kashiwa defender Masashi Kamekawa was sent off inside the first 10 minutes.
Kashiwa still did have the share of the possession and the chances despite being a man down but Kitchee plugged away and got the historic win.
