Alex Teixeira transfer listed and close to joining Corinthians

Alex Teixeira is on the verge of joining Brazilian side Corinthians on loan for Jiangsu Suning until the end of the year. Before joining Jiangsu Suning he had the opportunity to join Liverpool which he turned down in favour of the move to the Chinese Super League. Jurgen Klopp was none too pleased about Teixeira’s decision at the time but I’d say no one is too bothered about things have turned out for them, with Mo Salah in the form of his life.

Jiangsu Suning paid Shaktar Donetsk €50 million to bring him to China but they’re unlikely to recoup anywhere near that amount when he leaves China permanently. Teixeira has been successful during his time in China, he scored 13 goals for the club in the 2016 season but in 2017 Jiangsu Suning battled against relegation and his form suffered a dip matching that of the team.

While playing in China he hasn’t been picked at all for Brazil, and hasn’t looked likely at ever being called up in the future either. Moving back to the Brazilian league could be him trying to work his way back into the national conscious of the national team management before World Cup Squad selection, but it’s most likely that he would have to do something particularly at Corinthians to stand any chance of making it into Brazil's World Cup Squad.

Inter Milan are also reported to be showing some slight interest in bringing him back to Europe, but the player looks destined to return to Brazil for the player who is deemed surplus to requirements by Jiangsu Suning manager Fabio Capello.
