K League and it's Rebrand

The K League had a rebrand this month ready for the new season. A rebrand can be a negative word in Football a lot of the time. Only last week we got to see in England a huge failed rebrand of their badge by Leeds United. However, over in South Korea, this rebrand made sense.

The reason the two professional leagues in South Korea have looked to do this is to make their league more appealing and easier to sell to advertisers.

Previous to the 2018 season, the top League was named the K League Classic and the second League named the K League Challenge. This has now been changed to the K League 1 and the K League 2. You would imagine this will make it easier to market.

We will see the K League 1 and 2, start with their new names when the season kicks off again in early March.
