Forlán arrives in Hong Kong

Last week we reported Diego Forlán was on his way to Hong Kong and last Friday he arrived, greeted by many fans. What his arrival means to the league and his new club Kitchee, Hong Kong's current champions is unclear.

Many fans of the game in Hong Kong believe this is very much a publicity stunt for the club to bring more fans in especially with the Asian Champions League games looming. With next season there not being a an Hong Kong side in the Asian Champions League this is a chance for Kitchee to promote the game in the country.

It will be interesting to see how much game time Forlán now gets also and if he is still fit enough to play after 18 months out of the professional game. Over the weekend the 3,203 crowd did get a glimpse of him however as Forlán came on with 2 minutes remaining as Kitchee drew 2-2 with Southern Distract.

Forlán's move to Hong Kong is sure to bring excitement and bring fans to games. You could see by his welcome to Hong Kong that people are excited to see him play. However if he will offer much on the pitch only time will tell.
